“A nation’s strength ultimately lies in what it can do on its own, and not in what it can borrow” – Indira Gandhi. This statement is as relevant today as it was years ago. Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan is synonymous with the spirit of self-reliance. It is much more than a cool hashtag. It is symbolic of the attitude and action plan that India needs to develop in order to protect and nurture its economic sovereignty.
The FSSAI launched RUCO – Repurpose Used Cooking Oil on Biofuel Day 2018. The RUCO initiative launched by the Indian government is aimed at achieving good health for all, energy security, and climate change mitigation leading to environmentally sustainable development. It is a way to realize financial growth and modernization through the resourceful utilization of the country’s resources.
India ranks third, worldwide, in oil consumption. We import more than 200 million tons of crude oil and over 20 million tons of refined petroleum products. Our dependence on imports for fossil fuels is a huge deterrent to India’s growing economic power. Imports drain away from the scarce foreign reserves that are of prime importance to any developing economy.
India’s quest to become ‘Atma Nirbhar’ is not merely a vision, but a well-planned economic strategy, just like Amul spurred India’s White Revolution, making the country the world’s largest producer of milk and milk products. Similarly, the RUCO movement can be the next revolution in India where we will be able to convert used-cooking oil to Bio-diesel. Used Cooking Oil-based biodiesel has the potential to reduce over 10% of the Rs.100,000 crore import bill of various petroleum products by 2024.
RUCO is an ecosystem that will enable the collection and conversion of used cooking oil to biodiesel. Currently, used cooking oil is either sold to roadside vendors and eateries for frying, which poses a threat to citizens’ health or is disposed of off in drains which leads to the destruction of the sewerage infrastructure.
India is one of the largest consumers of vegetable oil and thus exists the potential to procure almost 220 crore liters of Used Cooking Oil (UCO) for the production of biodiesel by the year 2022.
Achieving self-reliance is an integral goal for India in order to avoid subservience to the developed nations. At Aris BioEnergy, we understand the significance of the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ movement.
We are moving forward with the mission and vision of a cleaner, greener, healthier and prosperous India. We encourage everyone who consumes oil, whether as an individual or in bulk, to contribute used cooking oil that has become unhealthy for human consumption. Our network of collection partners is readily available to collect UCO. The UCO containers are barcoded and sealed before being transported to the refinery. The Refinery converts Used Cooking Oil (UCO) into Biodiesel using the transesterification process.
Our search for partners is ongoing and continuous. Homemakers are most welcome to reach out to us for the collection of their household UCO. By doing so, they can play an extremely vital role in protecting their family’s well-being as well as preserving the environment.
This is an honest appeal to all readers to spread awareness around the significance of generating BioDiesel. As the famous quote suggests, “One is the mother of ten thousand.” Each one of us can be instrumental in creating a better tomorrow.
Collect used cooking oil and call us at +91 7304745554 or write to us at frontoffice@arisbioenergy.com and we will send our collection team to collect the UCO at your doorstep.
Serving the country is a privilege. Wouldn’t you want to play your part in making India SELF-RELIANT?
Each drop counts. Tiny measures taken today will eventually lead to a giant transformation that will safeguard the environment, reduce the import of fossil fuels and create a greener, prosperous society.
Let’s become an Army of Green Soldiers in our quest for ATMANIRBHAR, GREEN, AND CLEAN INDIA.
